Music For Our Community Campaign
Music For Our Community is a campaign to raise funds for the purchase and restoration of the former St. Mary’s Paper office building to house the Algoma Conservatory of Music. With the generous support of our donors, funds from Canadian Heritage, FedNor and NOHFC as well as long-range financing through BDC, the renovation is underway, with expected completion in the Fall of 2021.
This includes the development of a distinctive 170 seat performance venue - The Loft - which is directly linked to a professional recording studio on the same level. The recording studio will also be linked to The Machine Shop next door. This will give artists the ability to perform in either venue while producing professional video and audio content. We will also be equipped for live event streaming.
This will have a major impact on four levels: Music Education, Performance, Heritage Preservation, and Downtown Development. Building on its 50 year reputation of excellence, this will allow the Conservatory to greatly expand its education and performance programs, while breathing a second century of life into this historic landmark.
