Winds, Brass, Percussion
Ken Piirtoniemi holds a Bachelor of Music with Honours in Music Education from the University of Western Ontario; a Bachelor of Education from the the University of Western Ontario; as well as an Associate Performer's Diploma from the Western Conservatory of Music now Conservatory Canada). He is an instructor of all brass instruments as well as percussion at the Algoma Conservatory of Music and Algoma University. In addition he is an experienced performer, having been the Principal tuba of the London (Ontario) Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Piirtoniemi is also the Band director at White Pines Collegiate and has written and published many of his own compositions which are often heard performed by students at the Algoma Conservatory.
