Robert Ollikkala received an Associate in Piano Pedagogy from the Western Conservatory; a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from the University of Western Ontario; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology with specialization in Ethnomusicology from the University of Illinois. In addition he received Suzuki Teacher Training at Mount Royal College in Calgary. Awards have included the Gold Medal for highest mark in Associate examinations from the Western Conservatory, a Doctoral Fellowship for research in India and scholarships to the University of Western Ontario and the University of Illinois. He has taught a variety of courses at the Western Conservatory, University of Western Ontario, University of Illinois, University of Alberta, King's University & Alberta College of Music in Edmonton.
Dr. Ollikala is active as both a piano and theory instructor with students of all levels at the Conservatory as well as through Algoma University.
