Voice, Youth Choirs, University Choir
Agnes is a voice instructor and
choral conductor at the Algoma Conservatory
of Music and Algoma University. She began
her undergraduate studies in Voice in 1983
with Carolyn Hart at Memorial University of
Newfoundland. After completing her Bachelor
of Music degree in 1988, she moved to
Montreal to pursue graduate studies in Early
Music Performance at McGill University.
Under the tutelage of late Canadian
countertenor, Allan Fast, she completed her
Master's Performance degree in 1991. In
1996, Agnes founded the choral programme at
Algoma Conservatory, which presently numbers
more than 100 students. Both her choirs and
private students have distinguished
themselves by winning numerous national
awards. Agnes is also active as a festival
adjudicator and a member of the Board of
Examiners of Conservatory Canada. For the
past 13 years she has been coordinator of
the vocal division of the Sault Ste Marie
Kiwanis Music Festival, and performs in solo
and chamber concerts in Canada and the
United States.
