Private Violin Lessons, Viola, Chamber Music, Algoma Conservatory Concert Strings
Rosemary Gosse began her violin studies at the age of seven under the tutelage of Marion Stratton in her hometown of Belleville, Ontario. After playing eight seasons with the Eastern Ontario Concert Orchestra and teaching at the Suzuki Violin School in Belleville, she moved to Kingston to study Violin Performance under Deszo Vaghy at Queen's University. While at Queen's she was Concertmaster of the Queen's Symphony Orchestra as well as being a full-time member of the Kingston Symphony.
One of only two dozen violinists accepted from across Canada, Rosemary was a member of the acclaimed National Youth Orchestra of Canada for three consecutive seasons. As a member of the NYOC, Rosemary studied under several renowned pedagogues including Albert Pratz, Gwen Thompson, and Kazuyoshi Akiyama. It was at NYOC where Rosemary first met Professor Thomas Williams whom she later studied Violin Performance with at McGill University in Montreal. While at McGill she played in the McGill Symphony and the McGill Baroque Orchestra as well as performing in a professional string quartet on the Sun Princess cruise ship.
With over 20 years of teaching experience she is very active as an instructor of violin viola and chamber music at the Algoma Conservatory String Academy, a member of several professional faculty ensembles and the director of the Algoma Conservatory Concert Strings, the Conservatory's most advanced student string ensemble. She is also a principal violinist in the Algoma Chamber Orchestra.
